Abstract
An integral equation for small modes arising at each of the mirrors of an asymmetric resonator with a lens created by an optically inhomogeneous region between the mirrors was obtained and solved for the two-dimensional case using Huygens' principle for an optically inhomogeneous medium, the principle being correct for the quasigeometric approximation of [1]. The solution of the two-dimensional mode problem was generalized to the three-dimensional case of small modes of “rectangular” symmetry.
