Generation of difference frequencies on the basis of nonlinear effects

Abstract

The production of a difference frequency (subharmonic) by nonlinear polarization in a dielectric or semiconductor receiving two strong light fluxes has some differences from other nonlinear effects. Here the question is discussed theoretically.
