No detailed engineering design has been carried out, but the fuel and channel design given in [17] would give 1500 MWe from a reactor vessel no larger than that for the CANDU-BLW-250 reactor operating at Gentilly, Quebec

Such delays of many months have been experienced with the Hallam Sodium Graphite reactor, the Fermi fast breeder reactor, the Dounreay Fast Reactor and the EBR II. All were caused by quite minor defects

Corrosion, often associated with a local stress, occurs causing leakage between primary and the steam generating secondary circuits, with all primary circuit fluids. It is customary to block off such leaking boiler tubes. For some coolants including sodium it is necessary to divide the primary into a number of separate loops to allow operation with one loop defective
