Structure of zangezurine

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

Abstract

A new base with [α]D +208° (c 0.7; methanol) has been isolated from the combined nonphenolic alkaloids ofPapaver zangezuricum A. D. Mikheev, and has been called zangezurine (I). The acetylation of (I) with acetic anhydride in pyridine yielded O-acetylzangezurine (II). The structure of zangezurine has been established on the basis of the UV, IR, mass, PMR, and13C NMR spectra of (I) and (II).
