Summary

The concentration of lactic acid in mixed venous blood of anesthetized dogs increases to more than 50 mg-% during constant infusion of epinephrine. Under these conditions a disappearance of lactic acid in the lungs was found and amounted to 8,6±3,2 mg./min.·100 g lungs weight. If the lactic acid in the lungs was metabolized to CO2 and H2O, the oxygen consumption of the lungs would be 11% of the total oxygen uptake.
