An improved apparatus for blood flow measurement utilising the principle of “internal calorimetry”

Summary

As a result of experience with long term liver blood flow measurements, an improved apparatus for measuring blood flow was designed utilising Grayson's heat exchange principle. This apparatus allows a more exact measurement of the thermal conductivity even in the conscious animal and of the metabolic heat production. The basis principles for measuring thermal conductivity and metabolic heat production are described. The electronic design and the experimental results obtained are shown.
