Summary
A 25-year-old man sustained a total avulsion of the maxilla from a motor vehicle accident. Previous attempts at functional reconstruction of the maxillary palate were attempted without success. A latissimus dorsi myocutaneous free tissue transfer was chosen to reconstruct the palate with dramatic improvement of oral cavity continence and speech.
