Summary
A study based on a representative sample of 38 newly-consulting children was carried out by a group of psychologist and sociologists of the Service Médico-Pédagogique Vaudois. It aimed to analyse the processes leading parents to seek consultation, to clarify the expectations of specialists (doctors, teachers and psychologists) during a consultation, and to compare the experiences of parents and therapists in the initial phases of contact. The findings highlighted a number of problems, including what information should be given to parents, the identity and identification of the therapists, the communication of a diagnosis, and relationships with extra-mural specialists.
Résumé
La recherche menée par un groupe de psychologue et sociologues du Service Médico-Pédagogique Vaudois vise à analyser le processus conduisant les parents à la consultation, à connaÎtre les attentes des spécialistes (médecins, enseignants, psychologues) adressant un patient à la consultation et à comparer le vécu des parents et des thérapeutes dans la phase initiale, lors des premières séances de consultation. L'investigation portant sur un groupe de 38 enfants représentatifs des nouveaux consultants met en évidence un certain nombre de problèmes qui sont discutés dans ce travail, notamment l'information des parents, l'identité et l'identification des thérapeutes, le diagnostic et sa transmission, les relations avec les spécialistes à l'extérieur de la consultation.
