Incidences de la co-thérapie sur la psychothérapie d'un groupe de psychotiques

Summary

The authors, from their experience of a psychotherapeutic group of schizophrenic patients which they ran for three and a half years, consider certain implications for the therapeutic process arising from the use of two therapists. In particular, they analyse the dynamics of the triangular relationships created by the presence of two therapists in the group, in reducing the affective reactions between the group and each of them, and between themselves, by movements of transference and counter-transference. From this point of view, each therapist experiences the common life of the group through reactions by group members towards the other therapist, to the extent that these reactions concern him. In view of the profound rivalry thus created by joint therapy, the authors consider the unfavourable influence it can have on the therapeutic process, but attempt to bring out the possibility of bypassing the conflict by using it in the analytic process itself.

Résumé

Les auteurs, à partir de l'expérience d'un groupe psychothérapeutique de schizophrènes qu'ils ont mené pendant trois ans et demi, envisagent certaines implications de la cothérapie sur le processus thérapeutique. En particulier ils analysent le dynamisme de la relation triangulaire créée par la présence au groupe de deux thérapeutes, en réduisant les mouvements affectifs entre le groupe et chacun d'eux, et entre eux-mêmes à des mouvements de transfert et de contretransfert. Dans cette perspective, chacun des deux thérapeutes éprouve le vécu commun du groupe au travers des mouvements entrepris par le groupe vers l'autre thérapeute, et ceci dans la mesure où ces mouvements le concernent. Devant la situation de rivalité profonde ainsi créée par la co-thérapie, les auteurs tout en envisageant l'aspect défavorable qu'elle peut avoir sur le processus thérapeutique, cherchent à dégager la possibilité de dépasser le conflit en l'utilisant dans le processus analytique lui-même.

Zusammenfassung

Gestützt auf Erfahrungen mit einer während 3 1/2 Jahren geführten psychotherapeutischen Gruppe von Schizophrenen untersuchen die Autoren bestimmte Beziehungen zwischen der Cotherapie und dem therapeutischen Prozeß. Insbesondere analysieren sie die Dynamik der durch Anwesenheit von zwei Therapeuten in der Gruppe geschaffenen Dreiecksbeziehung. Die affektiven Reaktionen zwischen der Gruppe und jedem Therapeuten sowie zwischen den Therapeuten unter sich werden auf Übertragungs- und Gegenübertragungsbeziehungen zurückgeführt. In dieser Sicht erfährt jeder Therapeut das gemeinsame Gruppenerleben durch ihn selbst betreffende Gruppenreaktionen gegenüber dem ändern Therapeuten. Durch die Cotherapie kann so eine ausgeprägte Rivalitätssituation mit eventuell ungünstigen therapeutischen Auswirkungen entstehen. Es werden Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, diesen Konflikt zu überwinden und für den therapeutischen Prozeß fruchtbar zu machen.
