Conclusions
The basic reason for the size effect in yarn strength is nonuniformity of the yarns in linear density and strength and the associated statistical period of repeatability in minimum strength values.
A dependence of the statistical repeatability period in minimum strength values on yarn stretch ratio has been found.
Relationships for heat-stretching, connected with nonuniformity in the starting fibres, in particular with the presence of thin and thick sections in them, have been demonstrated.
