From the roots of theFerula diversivittata Rgl. et Schmalh growing in Turkmenia we have isolated a new coumarin, C19H20O4, mp 55–57°C, which we have called diversinin, and also coumarins known previously — diversin and umbelliferone — andβ-sitosterol.

On the basis of spectral characteristics it has been established that diversin has the structure of 7-(3′,7′-dimethyl-5′-oxoocta-3′,6′-dienyloxy)coumarin, and diversinin is its Δ2′ position isomer.
