Local susceptibility of Ce-impurity atoms in La-metal, as seen by TDPAC

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the local susceptibility at140Ce in La single crystals has been measured with the TDPAC method. ForT>50 K it shows theT−1 behavior of a normal susceptibility. At 30 K it reaches a maximum andbelow 10 K the susceptibility is very low. An early loss of spin polarization of the140Ce nuclei occurs below 20 K.
