Summary
From the leaves ofF raxinus mandschurica Rupr. and the roots ofF. potamophila Herd we have isolated and identified cychoriin, fraxin, and a new coumarin glucoside, C17H20O14, mp 134–136°C (from pyridine), [α] 27D -35° (c 0.4; methanol), mol. wt. 384, which we have called fraxinoside. On the basis of UV, IR, and NMR spectroscopy it has been established that fraxinoside is 6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy-5,7-dimethoxy coumarin.
