Summary

The structure of thalicminine (I) has been established; it is 2, 3, 7-trimethoxy-5, 6-methylenedioxy-10-oxotetradehydronoraporphine. The conversions of thalicmine (IIb) into thalicminine (I) and of thalicminine (I) into dl-thalicmine (IIb) have been effected.
