The new bases herbadine and herbamine have been isolated from the epigeal part ofVinca herbaceae.

A comparative study of IR, UV, NMR, and mass spectra and chemical properties has established the structure of 2,21-dihydroxy-17-deoxyvincarine for herbadine and N(a)-methyl-2,21-dihydroxy-17-deoxy-vincarine for herbamine.
