Abstract

The dependence of the third-order nonlinear susceptibility χ(3) of CS2 and C18H30 (dodecylbenzene) on temperature was measured by the degenerate four-wave mixing method. The empirical formula of this dependence was obtained. An explanation of this relationship was also given through the application of the model of a polar molecular moving in a viscous medium under the action of a laser beam.
