Abstract
An efficient computer-aided solution procedure based on the finite-element method is developed for the analysis of TM waves in slab uniaxial waveguides. In this approach, self-consistent solutions are obtained by using a simple iterative scheme. Propagation constants and field profiles for TM guided waves in a uniaxial planar waveguide are given and compared with analytical results.
