Abstract
The diffusional evolution (growth or shrinkage) of gas-filled pores during the hot pressing of a ceramic is considered. It is assumed that the gas is insoluble. An expression is derived for the dependence of porosity shrinkage on time, and on the process parameters: external pressure, temperature, and quantity of gas initially in the pores.
