Summary
The quality and comparability of five RIA's available on the German market for determination of digoxin are tested in this paper. All RIA's produced varying results in the determination of digoxin concentration in the patients' sera. The mean values of the same sera showed differences from 1.413±0.782 ng/ml to 0.700±0.542 ng/ml. There are numerous sources of error with RIA's. Therefore each laboratory should work out and announce its own guideline values for the RIA used in regard to the optimal therapeutic range.
