Conclusions

1. Dilution curves with an exponential drop with a time constant adjustable within 2.5–20 sec and error of its determination of not more than ±5% were obtained on the created device with a pulsating flow of the working fluid for reproducing the indicator-dilution process in the circulatory system.

2. When determining the MCV from the dilution curve there is a systematic error related to the difference of the ascending part of the curve from an exponential curve, which is due to the finite time of spreading of the indicator in the fluid from the place of introduction to the place of measuring its concentration.

3. The accuracy of determining the MCV can be increased by extrapolation of the exponential curve to the time of introducing the indicator and integration of the extrapolated curve.
