Abstract

Results of a large number of tests on glass-fibre-reinforced cement (GRC) subjected to repeated flexure on a prototype multiple specimen fatigue rig are presented in the form of probability-stress-number of cycles to failure (PSN) diagrams. The fatigue limit at 106 cycles was found to be approximately 90% of the limit of proportionality determined in static bending. The effect of age, storage conditions and overstressing are reported and some comparisons are drawn between the behaviour of GRC and asbestos cement.
