Conclusion

The KASKAD automated system for preparation, control, and archiving of engineering documentation provides for preparation of documents containing textual and graphic information by linking text and figures (drawings and sketches). The KASKAD system allows electronic archives of an industrial facility and its departments to be established. It also provides hierarchial access to stored documents, fast and convenient search for required information, authorized access to the system, identification of users, a flexible system of authorized users (tailored to the needs of the industrial facility), and required privacy of information (for access, copying, editing), etc.

The KASKAD system can be operated by users having no programming background; the software is quite friendly (interactive mode, menu, help facilities, current information lines, etc.), providing easy computer operation.

The KASKAD system is recommended for automated preparation and correction of technical and other documentation. It also allows electronic archives of industrial facility or medical institution to be maintained.

The KASKAD system is presently being tested at the Scientific-Manufacturing Association Medinstrument (Kazan').
