Conclusions
Calculations of the heat-exchange of a bundle in an immobile medium or in accompanying streams indicate a rather rapid establishment of a region of thermal stabilization, as a result of which heat is transferred in it only due to the thermal conductivity of the gas.
Acceleration of the stream because of narrowing in the sweeping tower leads to more efficient cooling of the fibre bundle as compared with bundles in cylindrical towers.
Sidewise sweeping increases cooling intensity. Below the sweeping region, flow rearrangement takes place, as a result of which gas which has passed through the bundle is again drawn inside the bundle and the temperature of the filaments is increased somewhat.
