Conclusions

An increase in the cellulose content of viscose from 8 to 14% by wt. is possible and economically advisable; this ensures a 40% reduction in the consumption of sodium hydroxide and a 4-fold decrease in the amount of water to be evaporated which has gotten into the precipitation bath with the viscose.

With the objective of reducing the viscosity of high-concentration viscoses, it is advisable to raise the processing temperature to 35°C and/or reduce the DP of the cellulose in the viscose to 275.
