Multiple polytopic angiomyofibromas of the inferior vena cava and the veins of the small pelvis

Summary

Three months after a hysterectomy for multiple leiomyomas, a 42 years old woman was operated upon for a myxoma of the right atrium soon thereafter she died in congestive heart failure. At autopsy the cardiac tumor proved to be an extension of multiple polytopic angiomyofibromas of the veins of the small pelvis, the ovarian vein and the inferior vena cava. A possible relation between the tumors of the large veins and the intravenous leiomyomatosis and smooth muscle tumors of the uterus is discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Bei einer 42jährigen Frau wurde 3 Monate nach einer Hysterektomie wegen einer Leiomyomatose des Uterus ein Myxom des rechten Vorhofs diagnostiziert und operativ entfernt. Bei der Sektion stellte sich heraus, daß der Herztumor mit multiplen polytop entstandenen Angiomyofibromen der Venen des kleinen Beckens, der Vena ovarica und der Vena cava inferior in Verbindung stand. Ein möglicher Zusammenhang von Tumoren der großen Venen, dem Krankheitsbild der intravenösen Leiomyomatose und Tumoren des Uterus wird diskutiert.
