Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Conclusions

-- Preliminary irradiation of technical polyacrylonitrile tow with CO2 laser radiation leads to initiation of cyclization processes on subsequent heat treatment and to a decrease in oxidation time.

-- Preliminary irradiation reduces the temperature for the start of cyclization; it reduces the heat effect corresponding to this process, and reduces the weight loss.
