Summary
1. A cystopapillary adenoma of the kidney in a 69 year old woman is reported in which there was excessive siderosis. It is proposed that such tumors be classified as “siderophilic adenoma”.
2. Comparative microscopic studies were carried out on 102 malignant hypernephromas and 43 adenomas of the adrenal cortex. Hemosiderin was observed in 19,6% of the renal tumors whereas none of the adrenal tumors contained hemosiderin.
3. The results of this study confirm the theory that hypernephroma develops from metanephrogenic tissue and not from heterotopic adrenal tissue within the kidney.
Zusammenfassung
