Über die intercapilläre Glomerulosklerose bei Lebercirrhose

Intercapillary glomerulosclerosis in hepatic cirrhosis

Virchows Archiv A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Quantitative morphologic studies on the glomeruli of kidneys from patients with cirrhosis of the liver revealed enlargement of the glomeruli and an increase in the mesangial matrix but no increase in the number of mesangial cells.

The glomerular changes in hepatic cirrhosis are called collectively “intercapillary glomerulosclerosis” because there is no proliferation of glomerular cells.
