Abstract

The solidification of an Ni-Ta-Cr-Mn alloy has been investigated for a range of cooling rates and the cellular-to-dendrite transition characterized. The growth directions of the primary and secondary dendrite branches are parallel to 〈100〉. Microsegregation produces a white core in the dendrite interior in some growth conditions.
