Summary
The oscillatory laminar flow in a cylindrical pipe with ringshaped cross section and moving interior boundary is analysed. Special attention is given to the pumping efficiency, the pressure distribution and the force acting on the moving part of the pumping facility. Two limiting cases are studied in detail: quasistationary flow and boundary layer flow.
