Summary
Optical phenomena in photoelastic models by rotation of principal axes are studied with the aid of two differential equations, derived from the Maxwell's equations of electromagnetic light theory under consideration of the theory of Neumann [12]. The results of the theoretical investigation are confirmed by incidence light and scattered light experiments done with a model under diametral loads, in which the birefringence is frozen.
