Summary

This paper concerns the optimal design of a spherical cupola of given base radius that consists of a material obeying Tresca's yield condition. Five different combinations of selfweight, weight of non-carrying cover, snow-load and external as well as internal pressure are discussed. Finally, the results are compared with the optimal solutions for spherical shellgrids.
