Abstract
XPS, Mossbauer spectroscopy, IRS, and electron microscopy were used to study the electronic state and adsorption capacity of rhodium in supported bimetallic catalysts. The introduction of a second component (M') into Rh/Al2O3 alters the oxidation state of rhodium, which, in turn, affects the strength of the adsorption bond in the Rh-CO complex.
