Summary
Following Hamilton's principle the equations of motion of a vibrating plate are derived by means of an expansion of the displacements respectively stresses using Ritz method. Depending upon the wave velocity of straight-crested flexural waves a shear coefficient is defined to check the above solutions with the known exact solution for the infinite plate.
