Summary
The behaviour of dynamic stresses is investigated for the case of thin cylindrical shells subjected to high speed travelling inner pressures. The cylinder is clamped at one end and free at the other end or simply supported at both ends. The effects of travelling velocity and dimensions of the cylinder on hoop stresses and bending stresses in the longitudinal direction are studied. To simplify calculus, the effects of rotatory inertia, shear and solid viscosities are neglected.
