Summary
Time-wise fluctuating temperature gradients induce, due to the variation of surface tension, oscillation of the free surface of the liquid sphere, which may in or close to resonance with the surface waves lead to large amplitudes, capable to disintegrate the liquid system. An analytical solution leading to the magnification functions and their phases is presented for an arbitrary axial temperature field. For a linear and a quadratic temperature field numerical results are presented.
