Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
The studies on human carcinoma with the histochemical aminopeptidase reaction gave variable results: in one group of tumors this fermentation reaction in the carcinoma cells was uniformly negative, while in another series of carcinomas an aminopeptidase activity of varying intensity was found.
-
2.
The carcinomas lacking this enzyme arose from those tissues in which normally no aminopeptidase activity was demonstrable. In other words, the formation or activation of this proteolytic enzyme did not accompany the malignant transformation.
-
3.
Carcinomas arising from aminopeptidase-rich tissues usually possessed as well an intense aminopeptidase activity. Occasionally, however, the intensity of the reaction in these tumors was variable, and sometimes this histochemically detectable aminopeptidase was even completely lacking. Therefore, a carcinoma containing this enzyme must not necessarily always arise from an aminopeptidase positive tissue. No relationship existed between the aminopeptidase activity and the degree of morphologic differentiation.
-
4.
The fibrous connective tissue of some carcinomas revealed a clear-cut aminopeptidase activity. The aminopeptidase of the connective tissues most likely came from the histiocytic cells and not from the tumor cells.
