Effect of acetamidofluorene and activated derivatives on “Macromolecular synthesis” in single cell cultures

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Krebsforschung Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Zusammenfassung

  1. 1.

Summary

  1. (1)

Acetoxy-, N-hydroxy- and acetamidofluorene reduce “DNA, RNA and protein synthesis” as measured by the incorporation of tritium labelled precursors into HeLa and hamster embryo cells in the order given, thus reflecting their carcinogenic activities.

  2. (2)

“DNA and RNA synthesis” is more dramatically affected than “protein synthesis”.

  3. (3)

Tetrahymena pyriformis does not reflect the carcinogenic activities of the tested compounds.
