Summary

The metals mercury, cadmium, lead and copper were determined in 40 samples of sediments from the river Lahn. The sediments were characterized by geochemical properties (contents of carbonate, organic carbon, iron, manganese and values of pH and Eh). Grain size distributions of the sediments were calculated. From these curves the contents of sand, silt and clay were derived and also statistical parameters describing the distribution curves.
