Anisotropy of chemical activity in graphite toward oxidizing agents

  • Published:
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

Problems related to the anisotropy of chemical reactivity in graphite are examined. Possible reasons are indicated for disagreement between experimental values for the anisotropy of the reactivity of graphite toward oxidizing agents and the theoretical anisotropy in the chemical reactivity of the peripheral and internal carbon atoms of the graphite crystal lattice.
