Summary
In the CAM (chorioallantois membrane)-tumor-biotope a positive correlation can be observed between weight of tumors and parallel tested tumor-free embryonated eggs (p<0.001). This may be looked upon as an indication of close symbiosis between tumor and its host.
Four days after transplantation of Walker-Carcinoma-ascites the same biotope shows the following dependences of ΔEW (regress of embryo-weight) and TW (tumor weight):
During later periods tumors grow intermittently not constantly. With DS-Carcinosarcoma it could be shown, that the host embryo changes its rate of growth simultaneously and in the same way as the tumor. Therefore, a mechanism is postulated that stops lethal metabolic stress of the host embryos by unlimited tumor growth. Tumor-specific treatment acts as an external disturbance in this regulating mechanism.
