Dissociative electron capture and level width of quasistationary molecular states

Abstract

Perturbation theory is applied to give the cross section for dissociative capture e+A2→A+A. From the requirement of quantitative agreement with experiment, the level widths for the quasistationary states are estimated as γ1≃1.2 eV; γ2≃0.2 eV; γ3≃0.05 eV for the first three terms for H 2 .
