Summary
The spontaneous development of morphologically distinguishable substrains of a rat sarcoma in vitro is reported. After about 3 years of cultivation in vitro, cultures of these substrains were reimplanted into rats and samples of the resulting tumors were again explanted. The different morphology of the several substrains is described, as well as their differential response to mitotic poisons.
