Summary
Of 26 cases with morphea 11 reacted positively to Sabin-Feldman test with low titers of 1∶4 (2), 1∶16 (6) and 1∶32 (3), whereas 3 of 5 patients with progressive scleroderma showed a positive Sabin-Feldman test (1∶16, 1∶32 and 1∶64). Like other recently published results these findings do not indicate a common etiology between scleroderma and toxoplasmosis as has been suggested by others (Dahm and Schinko). Nor is the suggestion to be stressed that relapsing lip swellings and lingua plicata are joint clinical symptoms for both diseases. In councetion with these problems we described the peculiar case of a 52 year old woman showing the hitherto undescribed syntropy of progressive scleroderma, acquired toxoplasmosis and tuberculosis. In this case it is suggested that the presence of scleroderma is a favourable condition for the appearance of toxoplasmosis and tuberculosis.
