An dicken Schnitten durch das Gehirn von Macaca mulatta wird die relative, örtliche Stärke der Succinodehydrogenase-Reaktion geschätzt. Die Einzelergebnisse sind in Tabelle 3 auf S. 429 zusammengestellt.

Macaca mulatta zeigt gegenüber anderen Formen im olfactorischen System, im Ncl. ruber, der Oliva superior und Formatio reticularis eine relativ schwächere, im Isocortex und der Oliva inferior dagegen eine stärkere Succinodehydrogenase-Reaktion. Das Fermentbild der Calcarinarinde, des Corpus geniculatum laterale und des Thalamus erscheint wesentlich differenzierter.

In der Calcarinarinde besitzt korrespondierend zur Vascularisation die Schicht IV c (Brodmann) die höchste Aktivität.

Die großzelligen Schichten des Corpus geniculatum laterale reagieren stärker als die kleinzelligen.

Die Succinodehydrogenase-Aktivität folgt weitgehend dem Dendritenreichtum und der Perikaryongröße. Das Ergebnis wird im Zusammenhang mit der Unterscheidung von Bereitschaftsstoffwechsel und Erhaltungsstoffwechsel (Opitz und Schneider 1950) diskutiert.
