Summary
Investigations were carried out in order to determine low concentrations of yttrium and neodymium in mixed oxides of rare earths using the internal standards technique with a special x-ray fluorescence equipment, which consists of a spectrometer of advantageous resolution combined with a x-ray tube which permits a strong fluorescence excitation of a few milligrams of substance within the tube. It was shown that it is not necessary to measure the background. The intensity ratios of the total intensities yield linear calibration curves within the concentration range from 0.1 to 1% of oxide. The detection limit is 0.1% for the oxides of yttrium and neodymium.
