Summary

In 3 out of 167 human jaws which were serially sectioned, fused tooth germs were found.

The first case involved fusion of the central and lateral incisor germs in the left maxillary jaw (7th foetal month). The second case involved fusion of the central and lateral incisor germs in the left mandibular jaw (6th foetal month). The third case involved fusion of the lateral incisor and canine germs in the right mandibular jaw (4th foetal month). All three instances involved the deciduous dentition: In the third case the successors of the fused deciduous tooth germs were closely located to each other.
