Summary
The cephalic arterial system in insectivores and primates is described on the basis of 80 acrylic-resin injected corrosion specimens. The results are discussed on an onto-genetic and phylogenetic basis with special reference to the insectivore-primate boundary. The macroscelidoids are considered to be typical insectivores, whilst the special primate features of the tupaioids are emphasized. It is considered most probable that the latter occupy a position at the base of an expanded primate order.
