On the intraepidermal metastasis

Summary

The authors report some aspects of the development of intraepidermal metastasis, on the basis of the histologic examination of 24 cases of intracutaneous metastasis, following visceral carcinoma or melanoma of the skin.

Pointing out the rarity of these circumstances, a study is carried out on the microscopic picture observed in such cases.

The spreading routes of the neoplasic cells towards the epiderm together with their evolution this lager are briefly discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Auf Grund histologischer Untersuchungen in 24 Fällen intracutaner Metastasierung bei Carcinomen innerer Organe oder bösartigen Melanomen der Haut, werden einige Erscheinungsformen der intraepidermalen Metastasierung genauer studiert. In Anbetracht der Seltenheit dieses Vorgangs werden die mikroskopischen Bilder der intraepidermalen Metastasen eingehend beschrieben und die Wege erörtert, auf welchen die Krebszellen in die Epidermis gelangen sowie das weitere Schicksal dieser Zellen innerhalb der Epidermisschichten.
