Synthesis of 1-substituted tetrazoles by heterocyclization of primary amines, orthoformic ester, and sodium azide

Abstract

It has been shown that the reaction of heterocyclization of primary amines with orthoformic acid and sodium azide in acetic acid has a rather general character and is a convenient method for the synthesis if 1-substituted tetrazoles. On the basis of experimental data, a probable reaction mechanism is proposed.
